A small group of mental health professionals and other volunteers traveled to Haiti in July 2011 for the purpose of conducting research in addition to working with the children. The research project was undertaken with Dr. Priscilla Dass Brailsford, Georgetown University. The assessment tools used measured and compared the trauma experienced by children in the urban versus rural areas. The children we assessed were between 9 years and 12 years old. While the evaluators conducted the interviews for the research, other volunteers engaged the children in play therapy.
