On May 22, 2011 a tornado struck a residential area in North Minneapolis. The Headwaters volunteers were immediately on hand to help pass out emergency supplies in the distribution center. We helped staff the shelter through the Red Cross. We also assisted with coordination of the community clean up day in June. Headwaters worked with the VOAD (Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster) partners to offer our assistance with crisis case management. We are currently assisting by staffing the call center 2-3 days per week through the end of the year.
